A major North Sea Operator had a requirement to tie back a new field to one of their older platforms in the North Sea. As part of the OEM project team we took on the design of the software for the Topside Master Control System (MCS). This was to be hosted on a brand new MCS utilising the latest version of the OEM Control system software.

Unfortunately this program became a victim of Covid-19 and the latest oil price crash so it was suspended. At this point some 60% of the user interface had been developed. We were also heavily involved in assisting the Project Team with other aspects of the system design including the HPU and EPU systems.

Utilising past expert knowledge of a major North Sea Operators existing Subsea Control Systems we undertook a pre-engineering study for upgrading the existing systems into the latest version of the software used on the SCS.

Once complete the upgrade was handed over to the Project Team to carry out.

We were asked to undertake the susbea control elements on the first tree tests for a deep water project in the Far East.

The trees were to be tested in Malaysia prior to shipment and installation.

​A three week trip was undertaken in early 2020 which resulted in the successful tests of the first two trees for deployment. Whilst on-site we assisted the Work Over Control System operators to set up their systems to talk to the new generation Subsea Control Modules fitted to these trees.

Again utilising previous expert knowledge we were tssked with implementing a new tie back into the existing Master Control System in use on another major Operator's platform in the North Sea.

The project included updating the system Cause and Effects and Shutdown philosophy to bring it up to the latest standard for the Operator.

With a new upgraded MCS waiting to be installed we also assisted the engineer on that task to ensure that the new system was kept inline with the changes we made.
